So you have some indoor tanning lotion and you are planning on going outside. If you want to use this indoor tanning lotion outside there are a few things that you need to know. In general most indoor tanning lotion manufactures don’t recommend using their products outside, because they don’t contain any SFP. Also these tanning lotions are design for indoor tanning use, where you have controlled exposure to the time and amount of UV light.

Because of this controlled environment for indoor tanning, one can gradually build up their tan, over several weeks (or months for some), without the need and SFP protection. However, this is very different from tanning outside. Depending on your location, altitude, time of the day, time of the year, cloud coverage and air pollution, the intensity of the suns UV rays can vary greatly. This is why you need to use SFP when tanning outside.

So when you are tanning outside and planning on using indoor tanning lotion, make sure you apply sunscreen with SFP either before applying the indoor tanning lotion or mix it in with the indoor tanning lotion. Depending on you existing tan, skin type, and exposure time and intensity, you should select either a SFP 10, 15, 20 30 lotion to be applied with your indoor tanning lotion. This will result in you maximizing your outdoor tanning experience to get the best outdoor tan possible.

If you are wondering if you should use your indoor tanning lotions that have the sizzling hot tingle effect, you probably shouldn’t as tingling lotions can get very intense when used outside for long exposure to the sun. Or if you are wondering about the benefits of using indoor tanning lotions with bronzers outside, the answer is that it can vary. Some bronzer lotion will work just find outside and others won’t be as effective.

So is there any really benefit from using my indoor tanning lotion outside, and the answer is there is some benefit. Most indoor tanning lotions are design with lots of moisturizing ingredients with vitamins and essential nutrients that aid in the tanning process. As long as you mix you indoor sunscreen with a lotion with SPF before hand, there are some potential benefits.
