If you are relatively new to tanning, but still have gone several times, you might have noticed that you are starting to develop some white spots on your shoulders, bum, and legs. Like most tanners that experience this for the first time, you are probably wondering what these white spots are and why they are there. Don’t worry these spots are normal and there is a perfectly good explanation for them. Also, you don’t have to worry because you will be able to get rid of them too.
First let’s explain why these white spots are there. When you are lying down in the tanning bed, you might have noticed that your body weight is distributed onto several different pressure points. These specific points have most of your body weight or pressure on them and as a result the blood flow is reduced or restricted to those specific areas. As your blood contains melatonin, or in other words skin pigment responsible for tanning the skin, reduced blood flow results in those areas not tanning properly.
Don’t worry because, you can get rid of these spots by just laying in a different position. Or if you tanning salon has a standing up tanning booth give that a try. Standing up tanning booths are great because there are no pressure points and you can get a uniformly distributed tan. Also, you can try applying a tingling lotion as this will increase blood flow to the skin when applied. (To Find Out More, Read This Article “Tingle Tanning Lotions: How and Why They Work”)
If your salon doesn’t have a standing tanning bed and if you are just not really for tingling lotions, from now on you should try and tan in a different position every time. Just try shifting around your body weight to different positions and you will see a these white spots disappear in no time flat.
